I went to BlogHer, and came back with…
Zamzee was established in 2010 by HopeLab, a nonprofit research organization that uses the power and appeal of technology to improve the health of kids. Their mission is to get kids and families moving more!
About Zamzee (PDF)In simplest terms, Zamzee is an online game that is powered by a pedometer like device (it’s a lot like my fitbit) that a person (child) wears to gain points. Points are gained through activity, and are used to play the game and/or customize your online character. Clips cost about $30, and are both charged via the USB port on your computer, and activity data is transmitted through the USB into the game itself.
I’ve only played with it for a few days, but so far it is a hit. I love the concept, and truly hope that others give it a shot.

Probably one of the coolest things I brought home from BlogHer this year….. and I have a feeling it’s going to be a BIG hit with Z-man my 7 year old boy wonder.
